A wedding Photographers Guide

Today our blog and small guide features Ben & Alex's Wedding,

Venue: Haughley Park Barn, Suffolk

This wedding had a slightly more personal vibe as the Bride's dad was someone I had worked with for nearly 6 years at Sainsburys when I did my part time job as a grocery delivery driver whilst building Awaken Images.

Martin had retired from Sainsburys a year or so before the wedding so it was a great chance to catch up, but in the build up before the wedding he had got cancer, which had been a massively stressful time for Alex, as she had a really close bond with her dad.

Luckily he had overcome cancer and was present and looking very well. This though had brought along with it an extremely emotional vibe for the bride the fact her dad was with her for her special day.

A quick guide to the venue!

Haughley Barns is between Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds. It's a photographers dream because although the venue has a barn "feel" it also has the gardens and the backdrop of Haughley Park House (built in 1620), which gives plenty of scope for some great photos.

After the formalities of the ceremony had finished we got everyone out into the park to get this a fabulous drone shot of everyone who was at the wedding. What a great memory.

The Barn all ready and dressed for the wedding breakfast.

Bridal Prep.

With most of our couples we begin the day with Bridal prep. Haughley has its own accommodation just a stones throw for the barn. Alex had stayed the previous night in the cottage and when we got there, bridal prep was well under way.

Our aim is to tell the story of the day, in pictures, from the preparations to the first dance as a married couple. Bridal prep is about the bride (and her bridesmaids) relaxing, reflecting and occasionally panicking BUT always good fun!

Alex and her proud Dad - a really special moment.

Ceremony

The ceremony was held in Bradfield St. Clare's Parish Church and then it was back to Haughley where the festivities could get under way.

After the ceremony

Afterwards drinks and canopies were served. It's a great time for us to get some candid photos of guests relaxing with each other. Then we got everyone out for our signature drone shot! What a great memory our drone shot provides. Everyone who is at the wedding is on this shot.

The Wedding Breakfast!

Time to sample the great food from Haughley's kitchen and then, Speeches.

Another emotional speech by the father of the bride, it really was a day full of love!

The Evening

After that the cake was cut, first dance and then the party really got started!

We took the bridal party out during golden hour to get some atmospheric photos.

There's so many hidden gems in Haughley Park, a photographers dream!

We hope our images have helped inspire you. If you are looking for photographers who always provide 2 shooters on the day, who will get to know you and what you want for your day, and to accompany you on your wedding journey why not get in touch - info@awakenimages.co.uk.
